When we talk about microcirculation, we mean the blood flow in the smallest blood vessels, which are also called microvessels (diameter < 100 micrometers, that is less than 0.1 mm e.g. arterioles, venules and capillaries). With such fine vessels one can easily imagine that the susceptibility to disturbances of the blood flow is high. Anthocyanins are also active here and can improve circulation. Arterioles are the smallest arteries. They transport the oxygen rich blood throughout the body and ultimately branch in the so called capillaries, which can be described as the link between arteries and veins. This is where the exchange of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, hormones, oxygen, etc. takes place between blood and tissue. Then the venules the smallest veins have their job: They lead the oxygen depleted blood from the capillaries via the venous system back to the heart, where it is again enriched with oxygen in the pulmonary circulation and then fed back into the arterial system by the heart. The heart is the engine of this system. The powerful hollow muscle tirelessly pumps blood through the vessels and thus keeps the blood circulation going. Together with the vascular system, it forms a unit. Many studies have shown that anthocyanins can support blood circulation and the elasticity of the capillaries.

How much anthocyanins are in one capsule?

Every MEDOX® capsule contains 80 mg of pure anthocyanins. This is one of the highest dosages on the market and thus corresponds to the concentrate made from more than two handfuls of wild bilberries. It is difficult to say exactly because the anthocyanin content in the berries always varies somewhat, depending on their location and the growing conditions. One MEDOX® capsule contains 80 mg of highly concentrated anthocyanins, regardless of how many berries we had to process for this amount.

Place of manufacture?

MEDOX® was developed in 2000 at the Hanabryggene research center in Sandnes (Norway) and has been manufactured there for 20 years. The MEDOX® production is located together with our research laboratory in "Gandsfjorden" on the outskirts of the town of Sandnes in southwest Norway.

The name is an artificial name and was created by the founder of the Medpalett company, who developed the product in Norway around 20 years ago.

What age is MEDOX® suitable for?

There is no age limit for the consumption of MEDOX®. However, infants and young children under 3 years of age should not consume the product due to the risk of suffocation. We recommend taking it from the age of 12. For children, the capsule can be opened carefully and the highly concentrated berry extract mixed with something such as apple juice. In the dissolved form, we recommend drinking the juice with a straw to avoid staining the teeth.

Which berries are used to make MEDOX®?

About 50% wild bilberries from the forests of northern Sweden and about 50% black currants from New Zealand are used for MEDOX®. We do not use cultivated bilberries that can be bought in stores as they contain around 70% less anthocyanins.

What role do anthocyanins play in the color of bilberries or MEDOX®?

Bilberries contain several polyphenols, including flavonols, tannins, ellagitannins, and anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are the natural coloring agents that give berries their color. Dark berries - black currants, bilberries, crowberries, aronia and elderberries - therefore contain more anthocyanins.

Which anthocyanins does MEDOX® contain?

In the production process, we mix around 50 percent black currants and around 50 percent bilberries.

Bilberries contain 15 different anthocyanins, black currants contain 4 different anthocyanins. 2 of them occur in both fruits. This means that MEDOX® contains a total of 17 different anthocyanins. MEDOX® is the leader in anthocyanin supplementation.

How many capsules are there in a box of MEDOX®?

There are 30 MEDOX® capsules in each box. There is a highly concentrated 80mg anthocyanins per capsule.

MEDOX® does not contain any industrial sugar. One capsule contains the equivalent of 0.023 BE.

What does MEDOX® look like?

How is MEDOX® made? How is MEDOX® produced?

MEDOX® is made from wild, Scandinavian bilberries and New Zealand black currants. The anthocyanins are extracted from the peel and pulp using a patented process. The process is designed in such a way that the raw materials are handled with particular care, which enables the high degree of purity of the anthocyanins. Learn more here. 

Can infants take the product?

Infants and young children should not ingest the product due to the risk of suffocation and swallowing.

Can you also bake with MEDOX?

Yes. Open the MEDOX® capsules and use for baking, cooking or coloring food. We assume that some of the anthocyanins are broken down by heating. However, we have no studies on this.

When and how to consume (Time, with water, empty stomach etc.)

You can take MEDOX® at any time of the day, preferably with a glass of water. It doesn't matter whether you have a full or empty stomach. However, MEDOX® should not be consumed directly with dairy products, as the absorption of the active ingredient can be reduced. It is best to take MEDOX® about 30 minutes before or after consuming dairy products with water or a fruit juice drink.

Is there a risk that germs, diseases, parasites can be transmitted through MEDOX®?

During the MEDOX® production process, rotavapors are used, where the berries go through a cleaning process under such low pressure that they "boil" at below 40°C. It is therefore not possible for germs or parasites to get into the concentrate.

How does MEDOX® taste?

When consuming the capsule, you will not taste anything. We recommend MEDOX® capsules to be consumed with a little liquid.

For older people

We recommend that people over 50 years of age increase the amount to 2 capsules daily in order to exploit the full potential of the power of the MEDOX®.

How is MEDOX® ideally dosed?

We recommend: 1 capsule per day - as a preventive measure for healthy people under 50 years of age.

2 capsules per day - as a preventive measure for healthy people over 50 years of age.

Most of our customers take 2 capsules a day and report the massive differences moving from 1 capsule per day to 2 capsules per day.

Are there traces of nuts?

The ingredients of MEDOX® are: concentrate from wild, Scandinavian bilberries and New Zealand blackcurrants, maltodextrin, acidity regulator citric acid.

The capsule is vegetable based and consists of hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose.

Difference between wild bilberries and farmed/cultivated bilberries?

From a botanical point of view, Scandinavian wild bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus L) are not the same species as the cultivated bilberries (Vaccinium corymbosum), for example from the USA. Their flesh is light.

While that of the wild European bilberries is intensely dark in color. The more intense the color - the higher the anthocyanin content.
